The Engineering Division has funding to support senior engineering students completing curricular or co-curricular projects (including research projects). The fund can support projects in any discipline.

The fund was established to honor the life of Daniel O’Neil, class of 2006, whose life was cut short by the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech in April of 2007. Dan was a graduate of the Civil and Environmental Engineering program, was very involved in the arts on campus, and was a talented musician. The beautiful fountain in front of Colton Chapel is named to honor Dan’s legacy.

To apply, please send Lisa Karam (karaml@lafayette.edu) the following:

  • a one- to two-page narrative that includes the objective and context of the project/research, proposed methodology, expected deliverables
  • a one-page budget for the use of the funds
  • a brief paragraph from the project/research faculty mentor/adviser endorsing the proposal (should not be longer than a paragraph or two).

Special consideration will be given to students who are active in the arts and/or show broad involvement in diverse areas of the Lafayette Community.

The application deadline is October 28, 2024.
