The Havens Award
The Havens Award is designed to provide non-traditional summer learning experiences for engineering students. These non-traditional learning experiences are opportunities for education and personal development other than those provided in traditional course work during a regular academic year, or summer program. A non-traditional learning experience is also one that is not available at Lafayette College, and would not be possible without the support of the Havens Award. Learn more about the Havens Award.
The fund was established to honor the life of Daniel O’Neil ’06, whose life was cut short by the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech in April of 2007. Dan was a graduate of the Civil and Environmental Engineering program, was very involved in the arts on campus, and was a talented musician. It is with heartfelt remembrance of Dan that this scholarship is offered to support engineering students pursuing senior projects such as individual research, honors work, or their own design projects. Learn more about the Daniel O’Neil Award.
The program is designed to identify individuals with demonstrated potential for significant achievements in science and engineering research. Priority on increasing diversity, including geographic distribution and the participation of women, underrepresented minorities, and persons with disabilities. Fellowships for graduate study: research‐based master’s or doctoral degrees at accredited U.S. institutions studying fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
