For an internship to count it must occur in a country where the language of focus is taught and be a duration of eight weeks or more.*

The internship does NOT have to be a STEM-focused internship. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange his or her own internship along with flights and living arrangements in the host country. Companies will often assist students with these matters once they have been selected as an intern.

It is highly recommended that students begin discussions with their Gateway Career Center counselor in the beginning of the fall semester BEFORE they intend to start the internship.

*Internships of less than eight weeks should be discussed with the chair of the Dual Degree program.
