Lafayette Engineering is a community. We respect, trust, and support each other in our work together.
Lafayette’s engineering programs are dedicated to providing and fostering a welcoming and inclusive climate for all to learn, teach, work, develop, and thrive. We promote diversity in its many manifestations including but not limited to race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and place of origin. All individuals in our community share in responsibility for cultivating an inclusive ecosystem in which all members feel welcome and valued.
The engineering programs strive to empower students to be positive change agents, enabling them to develop sustainable solutions to socio-technical problems. This commitment to an inclusive culture has a significant influence on decisions across the engineering programs, and is predicated on the fact that creating an inclusive environment touches every aspect of the programs, including: curricular offerings, facilities, admissions and financial aid programs, research opportunities, faculty and staff, and more. The Engineering Division will continue to prioritize inclusion and work to develop an environment in which difference is valued, equity is sought, and inclusiveness is practiced.
